Well if you feel that way then quit and go on welfare, like millions of others has.

I very much sympathize for the position you are in and I admire you for raising two children on your own. However, what exactly do you expect the government to do for you? How has the government "forgotten" about you? If the government "forgot" more about certain things, there would be fewer government programs which means that the goverment would have to collect less money in tax revenue, and your after-tax pay would be high enough for you to buy food and better make ends meet. I think the problem that you are facing is a result of government trying to do too much.

Honestly, I feel like the main problem is that the cost of everything has gone up year after year, yet minimum wage hasn't changed since September 1997. Nine years without a raise in minimum wage, yet rent, electricity, GAS, food and everything else required for daily life continues to rise.
I applaud people who actually have jobs and continue to work hard to TRY and provide for their families. I have also though, seen people who will take a low paying job with minimum hours, just so they can squeeze more 'free' money for food and health care out of the government. This is appalling. But it happens everyday in every city across the country.
So keep your head up and continue doing what you're doing. In the meantime, check out local resources such as churches and non-profit organizations for help when you just cant get those ends to meet.

Forgotten how? You made the choice to have children. How is it my job to pay for them? I mean, I feel for you and I also spend most of my money on bills and groceries but I don't feel that it is the government's job (read: other taxpayers job) to pay for those things.
That said, if things are really that hard for you, you should look into the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program which provides food necessities (milk, cheese, cereal, veggies, eggs, bread, etc) to women just like yourself. This is a great program and is easier to get into than some of the welfare/food stamp deals.

Where is it the governments job to support people financially?
The government has not forgotten people like yourself, but I would have to say it does not help you when the government guts your already small pay check to give free money to people who don't want to work and think that the government should be a giant babysitter.

it always happens when the republicans are in control. becasue they give tax cuts rich, start wars that drive our deficit up,have higher gas prices, and pass pro-business policies instead of proworker policies like the democrats do.
