okay, this is a good question. Family practice is like an overall doctor, like there are rhemuatologists (artiritis doctors) and other types, family practicians have an overall view of everything and everyone ranging from just born to 100 yrs+ now, an internl medicine doctor takes care of more adults.. they don't work with children. There is a certain age tht they accept.

family practice is basically a primary care physician,who can see any ailment...and treat them or refer them to the concerned specialist..
An int medicine physician can see outpatient cases and also treat cases medically as in patients...

family practice will treat a vareity of patients, including small children. An Internist usually sees just adults

internal medicine deals with things like diabetes and thyroid problems..."internal" needs. a family prac. tends to a wider range of things and for the "family".
