I've been looking for a office postion in the NJ/NYC area and it seems like nothing has come up lately. I've been looking for a month now, and the only jobs offered are temp jobs. I have nothing against temps, but I need stability. I'm experienced in all office aspects (clerical/data entry/receptionist{my current position}/secretary). You would think with all this experience something would come along but nothing. Anyone have any ideas on how I should go about finding a decent jobs??? I've posted my resume everywhere Monster.com/hotjobs.com/nj.com/craigslist.com. Can someone please help me and give me some advice......I have the skills and experience so what's going on. I refuse to go and work in the mall, when I know I have so much more to offer.

It is tough to find work anymore. No one wants to pay what you are worth and the good paying, or more desirable jobs have a lot of people competing for the same position. Even with a lot of experience companies choose to bring in less experienced workers to hold down their costs. A large majority of jobs are not even posted to the public and it has become increasingly easier to find good employees. Just keep at it and something will come along, I looked for two months before I was offered a job.

Good Luck.

I'm currently building my business as an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay and am looking for sharp, positive women to join my team. There are four reasons women become MK consultants: 1. Money, 2. Flexibility, 3. Fun, 4. Hope. The starter kit is $100 and comes with over $300 worth of product, so worst case scenario - it's the biggest compact you ever bought. Best case scenario - it could change your life. You make 50% of whatever you sell and that money goes straight into your pocket... you don't have to wait for a paycheck. There's no pressure, no quotas, no boss. You will meet tons of great, positive girlfriends. I'm having so much fun and earning great money! Email me if you'd like some more info or visit my website: www.marykay.com/adina_k

You maybe want to try the best temp job you can and see if you can become long term at the place that your working, or if not it gives you something for your resume while you look for another job.

Find some career conventions in your area. There should be plenty. Dress appropriately, bring a stack of resumes, and shake a lot of hands with good eye contact.
