I have an old fridge which works perfectly well but is beginning to look unsightly. The plastic handle and top is yellowing with age but the case of the fridge is still white. Does anybody have any helpful suggestions?

If it is plastic then if no cleaning liquids work, try wet 'n' dry paper. Begin with 240 grade to remove the yellow, then work upwards to get rid of scratches. I think 1200 grade is the smoothest and should give a good finish.
Paint stripper works very quick but it eats into the plastic if you don't do it right.

That is the problem with white, its fades and yellows. There is sadly almost nothing you can do for yellowing plastic. You could try bleach, but It probably won't work. Try painting it, or buy replacement handles. Or it may just be time to buy an energy efficient Refrigerator. I did, or sale at Lowes, It is so nice! Smaller exterior and larger interior!! Glass shelves, filtered ice and water! We love it!

that oxy clean stuff works pretty well. get it into a paste like form and smear it one the yellowish parts. let it sit over night, come back and wipe off.
