I have high allergies to metals and it is specifically nickel, so I am sure it is the same for your kids, it is the highest allergy metal. you can find plastic stuff too. most cheep and some expensive jewelry has nickle so just ask the clerk if you are in like Jc pennys. I get peircing studs and wear only those in my ears, (I have two holes in each ear) I never take them out or least not very often. I love necklaces but can only wear 14 K gold. If my neck gets sweaty, I break out too, like with a turtle neck. it is a pain, but if you do it only occasionally, like a dance or church and not 24/7 it seems to work.

Check out www.simplywhispers.com! They have a complete line of truly hypoallergenic jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets, watches, etc. My ear lobes SWELL if I wear anything other than 14K gold OR something from Simply Whispers! For the most sensitive, they even offer "Surgical Steel," jewelry made from the metal used for operating room instruments.
Oh, and FYI, their prices are very reasonable and if you call them, you may be eligible for a first-time shopper discount!
Good luck!

Have you tried (1) Titanium
(2) Platinum
(3) Surgical Stainless Steel
All are fairly expensive but allergy free
