No. If the Middle Eastern Nations (especially the Muslims) leave Israel alone everyone can live in peace. The Palestinians and Jews can live in peace if the groups like Hamas and Hezbollah just disappear. Israel has a right to exist.

Touchy one!

Before I answer Let me begin by stating that I am a white male, Christian born (but don't follow the bible), and a liberal. I believe that there is only one race and it is called the Human Race.

As to your Question: Is Israel to blame for the conflict in the Middle East?

Yes, for the most part. Before the end of WWII there was no state of Israel unless you go back 3 to 4,000 years. The Israelites were deposed of their land and many were enslaved by the Egyptians. Then after the atrocities that befell the Jewish in Nazi Germany the Western world felt that we owed it to the Jews that they have there own land and supported the creation of Israel. Millions of Jews migrated to their "traditional" homeland, thereby deposing the Palestinians. If we are to accept that the state of Israel is a legitimate country then what do we do about the Native Americans that were deposed of their land and now have land claims against the government?

By the same token Israel has often provoked the Nations around them by making settlements in occupied territories (the West Bank and Gaza). The people who were in the land before the Jews declared the state of Israel have been treated as second class (without citizenship in the country of their birth). Is there any wonder why the countries around Israel are up set? The United States has provided Israel with Nuclear Warheads while attempting to prevent Israel’s neighbors from acquiring an equally terrifying weapon (of Mass Devastation). How would you feel if some people showed up in your neighborhood and moved in with out property? Let’s say they decide to occupy a local park or play ground? Then their friend who has a lot of property hands them weapons like guns to keep the park while you only have gardening tools to try to oust them?

Judaism is a religion not a country. The only reason that Vatican City is considered an independant state is because the Itialian government gave the vatican the rights to become an independant state within Italy.

There is no other state in the world that is religon based (yes governments but no other counrty)

So the answer is yes (and no).

Technically, in a way.

It isn't so much Israel itself, but the creation of Israel that set all of this in motion.

Now, actions by both parties (the arab nations and Israel) have served to intensify the issue, but one of the root causes is the creation of Israel by the West after WWII

When you glance back into history, most people will deduct or come to the conclusion that it is not only Israel who should be blamed but it's helpers, i.e. the British after WWII ... :)

answer to original question: YES!!!

here's a novel idea: the past is prologue. period. now, muslims and arabs---no more threatening israel with extinction. israelis: don't respond to the absence of provocations( a little humor). how's that. throughout history people have lost land and been dispossessed, and been inconvenienced. that's how it is on earth.

Israel is, I believe, to blame. Why couldn't they have released the innocents in thier jails and spared us this B.S.?
