Liberals and non-partisan citizens express outrage at the Bush administration lying, starting unnecessary wars, abrogating civil rights, breaking treaties and acting like a rogue state. Conservatives, especially Republicans, then accuse them of hating America.

It seems to me that defending the principles America was founded on from those who have gained high office in the country is a better expression of love for the country than blind obedience.

Your question is good, and the answer that proceeds mine is also good, a very fitting quote from the right person. It's a sad thing that there aren't more answers to your question.
I have a few quotes of my own.

I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him. ~Abraham Lincoln

Our country is not the only thing to which we owe our allegiance. It is also owed to justice and to humanity. Patriotism consists not in waving the flag, but in striving that our country shall be righteous as well as strong. ~James Bryce

"Bush admin. lying" - Buy a dictionary. Look up the word "lie" and now tell me where he lied. Besides, when did lying become a violation of the Constitution?

"starting unnecessary wars" - Unnecessary to whom? Just because you don't like the war (or our president) doesn't mean it is unnecessary. Graduate from West Point (or High School) before you try and give military advice.

"abrogating civil rights" - What civil rights have you or any American lost? Not what Air America or the NY Times tells you but what real liberties have you lost?

" breaking treaties " - ????

"rogue state" - Protecting ourself and our allies does not make us a rogue state. When we invade Mexico, maybe, but until then you need to give some examples.

You can hate conservatives and spin things all you'd like. But when the world is a safer place because of our leaders we would like a "thank you".

Why, when liberals make up stories to support their hate, do they claim to be defending the American constitution?

Bush did not lie. He went on the intelligence he had gotten from numerous sources, including the French, which may have been a mistake to trust them. Congress went along with the idea, both Democrats and Republicans. Only two congress people voted against it. Naturally, when things aren't going just perfectly and it is difficult, like most wars are, liberal Democrats accuse Bush of lying, though they had the same information he had. That is cowardly. You wish to sacrifice nothing for the protection of America. You don't think we should fight.

There were many isolationists saying the same things before we were forced into the second world war. Good thing we didn't listen to them, either.

Hmmm...You really have to look at the Constitution/Bill of Rights. You cannot read ONLY the things that suit your personal agenda or make your point. For example, many people like to hide behind the 1st Amendment, saying their "right to free speech is being violated", however, the 1st Amendment, among other things, gives people the "right to PEACEABLY assemble." Well what that means is that the minute your assembly/march/protest turns viloent (rock throwing, spitting on cops, assaulting people who don't agree with you), then your assembly is OVER. Its not the "Nazi-Facist Government" thats denying your free speech OK? Also, you cannot hide behind the 1st Amendment by printing unsupported accusations against others (libel) or by verbalizing unsupported accusations aginst others (slander). The Constitution does not give you "Carte Blanche" to do or say anything you want. There are limits. As soon as your rights start to hurt or violate the rights of others, your 1st Amendment rights are OVER.
The 2nd Amendment gives me the right to keep and bear arms....it does NOT give me the right to shoot anyone I want. Get it?
In other words, stop calling this country a Nazi police state that is taking away your civil rights just because you have to take your shoes off at airport security.
C'mon, whats next? Get rid of all stop signs and red lights because they're limiting my rights to go anywhere I want? No, because no redlights/stop signs means there would be accidents that killed or injured other people and denying their rights to Life Liberty and the Pursuit Of Happiness. Something to think about.

When you draw conclusions without first asking questions, things don't make sense. Try to find out IF someone is lying, the reasons and events that lead up to starting a war, the pros and cons of specific actions taken. Approach political issues with an open mind, don't commit yourself to a conclusion, then refuse to understand how others believe the opposite. Liberals rarely consider the other side of the coin, their mind is made up and that's that. Conservative more over understand the options available and possible outcomes resulting from each. That's why democrats cannot debate one topic for more than 2 sentences, because that's the extent of thought they've given to the topic. They rarely consider learning another viewpoint if even to strengthen their own perspective. Consider how many liberals state "Bush Lied" nearly all. What did he lie about? Liberal response, "He lied about Iraq having WMD's" How did he lie, who did he lie to, how could you trust Saddam after all his lies? Debate over, you haven't thought past the "Bush lied about WMD's" statement.

You know these statements are used word for word by a large percentage of Liberals and Democrats, yet never get backed up with any solid proof. You get accused of hating America because your so content on hating Bush without considering he might be correct.

If your content with calling someone an idiot after every choice he makes, that's not really being helpful or even involved. That's doing the absolute minimum. Not taken action isn't an option, and Democrats aren't offering any real solutions, they'd rather criticize. Think of a better idea before you bash someone who's actually doing something. We can't afford to sit around forever. Democrats can never make a decision and stick to it, because they are so afraid of being wrong. So they wait for Republicans to make the decisions then criticize them if something goes wrong. Real Team players. I'd rather go into Iraq and be wrong about WMD's and right about everything else, than go the Non Action route of Democrats and realize he did have WMD's because one destroyed a US city.

America does not have a constitution.

It is likely that you are refering to the United States, however you should keep in mind that there is no such a thing as ‘American’ nationality, America is not a nation America is a continent with many nations in it. The US never named itself the name of the United States is a designation it comes from the end of the Declaration of Independence, "WE, therefore, the Representatives of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in GENERAL CONGRESS, Assembled...". The preamble to the U.S. Constitution reiterated the phrase: "We the People of the United States..." (The authors of these two documents probably used the phrase "united states" in place of a list of colonies/states because they remained uncertain at the time of drafting which colonies/states would sign off on the sentiments therein.) The geographic term "America" specifies the states' home on the American continent.

It is therefor incorrect to refer to US citizens as Americans with the intent of denoting citizenship, or the United States as America with the intent of denoting a nation. Americans have a term for US citizens, we are called United Statesians by the rest of Americans, to say American with the intent of denoting citizenship or America when we mean the United States reflects poorly on our attitude towards the 70% of Americans that are not United Statesians.

Um, because patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels?

Meaning that if the Administration can't appeal to reason, and can't appeal to a track record, and has nothing viable to back up their words and actions, they can always rally people around a flag and get them all worked up about defending it against people who aren't even a threat to it.

In other words, it's because (a) many of those currently in power are corrupt; (b) those in power who are corrupt know that the vast majority of their citizens are knee-jerk patriots who have no knowledge of history nor of the documents that this nation is founded upon; (c) those in power who are corrupt have no other rallying point than "blind patriotism" and perceived enemies; and (d) most other people are even bigger idiots.

It is a difficult point in history when one can't defend the Constitution and Bill of Rights by *reciting* the Constitution and Bill of Rights. It says right in there that we have certain inalienable rights. But try "proving" a fact to people who don't think with their minds but instead think with some preformed overemotional entity that barely lives inside of them.

It's okay. It will all come out in the wash. Either America will fall because we are a nation of people happy to sign away our rights and freedom--and we will sign these things away to precisely the wrong people--or else people will become conscious and realize that a lot of what is going on in our very government is anti-American. That is, many in our current Administration are anti-American. One of the best ways to get away with being anti-American is to accuse people who are actually smart and who actually care of being anti-American. Since many Americans in general have an extreme dislike for anyone who has any sort of intelligence, we out here who know what time it is are easy prey.

As I implied before, nobody's going to be laughing when we are a total police state. Peeps just don't realize the long-term implications of their immediate, knee-jerk, overemotional "patriotic" responses to things.

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country"
-Hermann Goering (Nazi leader of the Luftwaffe)

After posting: Wow, someone had the exact same idea.

the those that broadcasts this are all a bunch of sickos they understand extra desirable they are only like Coulter they like to spit hate against a social gathering that now runs the Congress and Senate and could take back the White domicile from the loopy Bush Admin. i won't be able to understand how once you lose the full caboodle you have a tendency to get indignant initiate telling lies on the triumphing social gathering. there is no longer something they are able to do approximately it because of the fact Liberals purely want out troops to end being slaughtered and maimed previous recognition and set to recuperate in a grimy Walter Reed scientific institution. i think sorry for those that only take a seat up and dream of the thank you to run a brilliant social gathering down, only because of the fact the yank human beings kicked them out to the gutter.

Remember, when you question the government people think you are questioning the whole country because that's what the government represents and, get this, you do have freedom of speech but your not allowed to slander(make false accusations) to someone or a particular group of people. When people say, "You hate America", you could be able to group this with slander. Another constitutional violation on the government.
