For about a month I've been having an odor. So I went to my doctor and got a complete work up. Everything came back fine. She couldn't tell me what the odor was. I've tried creams and powders and soaps but I still have the odor, what do I do?

Get a second opinion, it sounds like Bacterial Vaginosis. Your vagina is supposed to be an acidic envorinment. When it has this smell there is sometimes high alkaline where it shouldn't be.. The cause is unknown. It can be carried by a male though and ocassionally, if it is recurring and mostly after sex, he may need to be treated as well. You can treat this at home. Eat yogurt everyday and apply plain yogurt topically as well for about a week or two. Or you can take acidopholus everynight for about two weeks. Sometimes yeast infection medication will help also.

Some doctors think that BV isn't that serious but it can be. It can cause endometriosis and during pregnancy it can cause preterm labor. When I was pregnant with my two year old, the doctor blew it off and I ended up in preterm labor the last two months of my pregnancy.

Stay away from soaps, perfumes, or dyes this will make it worse!!

Hello! Everyone has a natural odor, but you said this has been for about a month, so you know it is something different. Try to remember if you have done anything differently. It is true that what you eat can have an effect. Asparagus, tuna fish, etc. can alter your system. Drink plenty of water to flush your system. You may want to try drinking some cranberry juice also. If it continues, please call your doctor again. It could be a slight infection. Make sure the doctor you see in a Gyn, not a regular M.D.

If your doctor wasn't alarmed or didn't indicate anything then it might be normal. Over time a womans diet, exercise, hormones may effect her natural "processes" so her odor could change.
You could try tweaking your diet, soaps you have changed recently, etc. Some odor is perfectly normal and natural.

okay...not to gross anyone out, but get a gyn to check in there, especially if you use tampons...i know of multiple reports of a tampon being forgotton and decaying (seriously--one of my old nursing school buddies went into ob/gyn and she says they get at least one or two a month in for that--remember, our vaginal walls stretch so it's possible to have put in a new one without removing the old, especially if the string got up there so you didn't have that reminder). also diet does make a difference in odor as do a multitude of stds. or you could just be more sensitive to the smell than usual. basically, i recommend a full check-up form a gyn, complete with everyone's favorite pal the cold speculum, and a smear done just in case.

honestly, do not use any products in that area, you not even supposed to use soap down there. Your vagina has is own way of cleaning it self. When you wash, wash around it, do not go inbetween the lips. Also food that you eat could have alot to do with it. Stop useing products and drink alot of water and in a week i'll bet you the smell will be gone

Sometimes our bodies orders are stronger to us than we think.
Just keep yourself washed. and stay away from garlic and asparagus. if the Oder goes away you know what caused it. also you can try to stay away from greasy or deep fried foods a lot of times this is just your body way of saying that it doesn't like what your putting in. But if you do stop eating garlic for a while make sure and not stop eating garlic and asparagus at the same time. that way you'll know which one it is that's doing you in. it might be both or not at all.
I hope this helps and remember all women have a sent and usually no one else notices it.

Try changing the soap you use. That could be leaving a residue that's causing the odor.
Ohterwise, I'd say go back to the Dr if you can't get rid of it, and see if there are more tests she can do.

It could be a number of things. From food to the soap you use to bath or even your underwear being to tight. You can use douche to help. And there is a new product called Replens that is supposed to work very well.
Good luck

Eat fresh fruits and drink plenty of water, wear cotton underwear and wash 2x a day. A bath may help better than a shower

You may have an infection. I forget what it's called, but you can get it if you dont wipe from front to back, or if you have sex, and you partner went from one hole to another. (not a joke) go to your doctor again and ask if that could be it. they will give you a med. for it. dont have sex anymore, untill 3 days after you finish the meds. and no drinking while on the meds. good luck
