School Dinners
You're standing on a strawberry,
I heard the teacher say,
It was an end-of-term school dinner,
And we'd had strawberries that day.
You're standing on a strawberry,
And it isn't very good,
To put your great big feet,
In what's left of someone's pud!

You're sitting on a sausage,
And you're making such a mess,
That when you go home tonight,
Your mum will never guess,
What on earth you have been up to,
To get in such a state,
It really is much better,
To keep your dinner on a plate.

You've got your elbow in the custard,
And it's soaking up your sleeve,
And such a mess you're making,
No human could believe,
That one little bowl of custrd,
Could go so very far,
And I promise you my lad,
You'll get a belting from your ma.

You're slurping up the soup,
And you're spilling half your peas,
And there's a pencil and a ball-pen,
Embedded in the cheese,
Someone's dropped a plastic-spider,
Into the orange juice,
And teacher shouts for silence,
But it isn't any use.

It's just another dinnertime,
And it's very nearly done,
The battle of the servers,
Has been fought and lost, and won,
You scatter to the playground,
Where you run so wild and free,
Whilst the teachers in the staffroom,
Have a quiet cup of tea.

School dinners,
What a drag!
Do you remember the things that we all had?
Cold chips and with them peas
God that was not a dinner for me!
Mum made me take my own lunch,
It really was a good home made munch!
In the line one by one,
Having food fights
That was really fun!
Do you remember dinner time at school?
I remember that they wasn't cool!
But my kids now tell me their great!
And they eat every think that goes on their plates.
School dinners have really changed since my day.
And they come in many different ways.
Dinner ladies made you eat it all up
Even if it was gonna make you chuck up.
Couldn't go out to play with your mates
Unless that dinner was all gone from your plate.

Each time I bring it
I wish I had brought it
But each time I buy it
I wish I had brought it.

Bruce Lasky

Good morning, staff and students.
We have a brand new cook.
And that's why our lunch menu
will have a brand new look.
To make a good impression,
our cook's prepared a treat:
your choice of snapping turtle soup
or deep-fried monkey meat.

If you're a vegetarian,
we have good news today:
she's serving pickled cauliflower
and jellyfish soufflé.

And for dessert our cook has made
a recipe from France:
I'm sure you'll all want seconds-
of chocolate-covered ants.

I hope you like this gourmet feast.
I hope you won't complain.
But if you do we'll have to bring
our old cook back again.

both are roughly the same except when it comes to protein. EVERY veggies include a respectable amount of protein; fruits does not.
