Absolutely we can. We agree on a lot. Most disagreements can be solved by educating one side or the other to ALL the facts. The media however would prefer we not agree on anything, this gives them something to write or talk about. In fact when the vote was taken in Congress for the War in Iraq, there were only a couple that voted against it.

For the most part, no, but I have an idea on one issue: gay marriage. Most people look at the issue as black or white, and no one tries to come up with a compromise let alone a new solution. My idea is that marriage in general (especially the name) should be taken of the hands of government. Instead, everyone woulld have civil unions, regardless of sexuality. Marriage, moving away from its legal terms now, is a religious concept and should be kept that way. This kind of marriage would be dealt with on the spouse's terms, with their own church or lack there of. This way, gays recieve the same rights that straight couples do (land rights, inheritance, seeing loved ones in hospitals etc.) but the idea of marriage is kept as a religious one. This would also help to seperate church and state. Conservatives would like it becuase it respects their beliefs and liberals would like it becuase it grants every couple the same rights, regardless of sexual orientation.

Yes we all agree that Bush is the worst thing to have happened to this country. Did you see his jingoistic response to the Stem Cell research meeting in the East wing today?

Michael M, sorry pal but I disagree with you totally and I don't support either party. I truly believe 'marriage' is the union of men and women. Whilst I uphold the rights of gays to exist, manual laws should deal with their union unlike marriage which is a natural, humanistic act between opposites that can produce offspring to continue the human race. I dont believe homosexuals can do that, or maybe you know differently.

I'm sure they agree on many things, but choose not to discuss those subjects. I guess it makes sense on one level, not to debate what there is general agreement over.

Bottom line is this: conservatives are for the rich, for them getting richer at everyone else's expense; liberals are for everyone else.

They can, but with a 2 party system, anything they agree on is a non issue.

Yes.They actually do at times, they just dont talk about it.

That's kind of the point of human nature. There will always be a 2-party system in the West because of the full range of human emotion.Anything involving human thinking will be VERY emotional.

Sure, we agree on lots things. We just disagree on the way to accomplish our goals. Some people believe in freedom, and some people believe in a tryannical government cramming it down your throat.
