Blood from inside a woman's body comes out through an opening between her legs. This is menstruation, the root of the word "menses" hints at it being a monthly occurrance.

Men don't get periods, only women.

The uterine lining is shed. The muscles do an angry dance inside her abdomen and shake the blood and tissue loose, these are "cramps" and feeling them makes girls act the way they do during "that time of the month". Have sympathy, because it is pain like you cannot comprehend. Just make a little frowny face and say you're sorry, don't tease or tell them to get over it, and they will all think you're the greatest.

When a girl has her period she basically bleeds down there for 4 to 7 days. What happens is over the course of 3 weeks the uterus lines with blood and if the girl does not get pregnant within that time then her body releases it. When a girl is pregnant she does not get her period.

Well first of all that person would be female. During the menstrual cycle the body is readying itself to carry a baby. The "period" is the time where the old uterine lining is sloughed away to prepare the uterus for the next egg release and the potential for implantation. This cycle is and average of 28 days and begins on the first day of the "period".

The phrase menstrual cycle ( or period) refers to the recurring physiological changes in a female's body that are under the control of the reproductive hormone system and necessary for reproduction. In women, menstrual cycles occur typically on a monthly basis between puberty and menopause. That means 13-50 year olds (roughly) have periods, when the eggs come out of a womans body often with blood.

A woman can get grouchy and irritable and have bad cramps when she gets her period. That's called pms.

An egg comes out of the womans ovary. If it is not fertilized with sperm from the man, then the womans body gets rid of it & the old lining of the uterus. That expelling of uterus lining & blood is the period.
After the period, the liniing of the uterus builds back up, the woman pops out another egg & again waits to get fertilized. Happens every month.

It is part of the normal monthly reproductive system cycle where a non-pregnant female discharges the lining of the uterus over a period of several days.

the uterus has a lining that is like a plastic bag covering the walls. when you get your period, that is the lining sloughing off. it is preparing for a new lining. out with the old and in with the new. just in case a little bundle of joy is conceived, it has a fresh new bed.

are you serious?

when a girl has her period, it is when the lining of her uterus breaks down, because an egg has not been implanted in it, and it is not needed any more. she then bleeds through her vagina, and has to use a pad or a tampon...is that what you wanted to know? its very painful sometimes so repsect us if we're moody!
