Well that would depend on the group. Most large organizations have what they call a PAC or Political Action Committee. Their jobs are to know all there is to know, know who the movers and shakers are on their given interest. Then they have to be smart and eloquent enough to be able to persuade the body politic to see things their way.

This is done with research, member numbers (I.E. We have 3 million people who want you to vote this way.) and last but by far not least is… Money.

Sure money, when you invest your money in backing a candidate who shares your views your ideals will be heard more.
