Rock is dead.....completely....we're witnessing the last gasp now. I think more or less, what happened to rock is the same thing that happens to any other genre of music...it got played out. There's nothing that comes out today that isn't a derivative of some previous rock sub-genre. And like anything that's a derivative, it's nothing more than a watered down version of the original. There are still bands that came out with an original sound making records today and some of it's very good, but it's their sound. New bands have nowhere to go.

Rock is NOT dead. We are NOT in denial. Sure, the new music is not as good as the classic music, but it's still strong. Classic rock is gaining popularity again. Rock is NOT dead.

Rock is dead, for the same reason hip-hop is ALL underground(the made for radio bullshit that G-Unit and Dipset puts out there is RAP and frankly sucks), Rap is also dead, and country music is unbearable for most, and is also two-fold.
1)artists just don't stray from the path, just so they can put out a radio hit. so creativity just sucks it.
2)now most music on the radio is just pop with a twist here and there.
With the rise of internet radio i believe Rap can be resurrected, true Hip-hop restored to the forefront, and rock can rise from the AM/FM ashes

huh? It seems to me like alot of classic rock is still being played and appreciated and new stuff is coming out too. So do you just not like rock music? In my city there are a couple radio stations just for classic rock and a few more that do modern/alternative rock. I know just as many 18 year olds who are listening to pink floyd, led zep, credence clearwater revival, and the rolling stones as 50 year olds who listen to that music. So with such a big audience how can rock be dead? please explain!

It became too noisy with no rhythm, original black music is where it's at! White kids want to be black so they buy two main things to acheive that clothing and rap music.
