Because we made an alliance with them and we don't go back on our word like some other countries.

Argentina did not own the Flaklands Islands. General Galtieri needed a uniting diversion, an outside conflict to distract the public and maintain domestic control. His dictatorship was about to be toppled. They tried to take the islands by force from the British. Argentina was in the wrong and that is why we chose to support one ally over another. What some Pro-Israelis forget here, is that alliances go both ways. Granted, America often stands through thick and thin with its Allies, though that isn't always true (The Shah of Iran was a strong US and Israeli ally, yet the CIA and the West got rid of him). However, standing with Israel is often counter to US foreign interests. The current situation in the Middle East may result in the destruction of the current democratic, pro-West Lebanese government that the US brought to power. Furthermore, it is STATED FACT that Mossad (Israeli secret service) KNEW ABOUT 9/11, ALLOWED TO HAPPEN (so that everyone would support their fight against the Palestinians that they enjoy calling "terrorists"), and in some cases EVEN CELEBRATED the destruction of the Twin Towers. So let's get things straight: The US supports Israel, because of:

1/ The strong Jewish lobby. Though many liberal Jews, even Orthodox Jews, are opposed to Israel, which they consider as a Zionist State, not a Jewish State (BIG DIFFERENCE). Ever heard of the case in which the American Jewish Council and the Zionists did not LIFT A FINGER TO SAVE THE JEWS FROM THE HOLOCAUST???? THAT IS A DISGRACE.

2/ Its geopolitically strategic location.

Israel hasn't stabbed us in the back. Israel gave up Gaza and forcably removed it's own citizens, and this is how Hezbollah repays their offer. Israel is doing what America should have done from the onset of the War on Terror... crush terrorists. And Hezbollah is to blame for the deaths in Lebanon. They attack from private homes and then scatter, just like the terrorists in Iraq vs. the US. Then they use propaganda to claim that Israeli forces fired on innocent civilians. Hezbollah is using the standard terrorist playbook, that is obvious. The world should look at this at face value and realize that the US is villianized exactly the same way. There is no honor among terrorists, they cannot be negotiated with, trusted, nor handled in any peaceful manner. The only language they understand is violence, and deceit.

Israel has every right to attack Hezbollah, and defend their citizenry.

This calls for speculation nothing else.

One of the main reasons is that Israel is a staunched US ally, the other that it is a democracy something scarce in the middle east.

However, Israel is embarked in a war of expansion and the US supports this endeavor. That is contrary to stated US policies and objectives. One can only speculate as to the reason for that. In the opinion of many it has a lot to do with the wealth United Statesian citizens of Jewish descent have, and their political leverage at the top levels. We should remember that this is only speculation though.

The US stands by and goes back on it's agreements as it sees fit. If you want a flagarant example of it simply look at the Malvinas war in the South Atlantic between Argentina and England. The US had (still does) and agreement with Argentina and the rest of America that simply stated said "if any nation from another continent is at war against ANY nation in America, ALL American nations will come to their aid" and so the US was obligated by a signed contract valid at the time of the war to aid Argentina with all it's might, this was signed with the USSR in mind in the mid 50's. The NATO agreement did not require the US to aid England as that is an agreement drafted to defend EUROPE in case of a USSR attack.

The United States chose to aid England against Argentina in flagrant violation of it's agreements.

That is history, you can check it any time.

Israel did NOT give up Gaza, Israel simple cease to occupy foreign territories. Do a little reading and educate yourself, Israel has MORE THAN DOUBLE it's size since it's inception. Israel is in a war of expansion and more than half of what it claims as own is territory that belongs to it's neighbors.

I'm an American, and I support Israel. And I support my country's support of Israel.

Why? Besides liking Israel as a fellow democracy, they are surrounded by irrational folks who don't believe Israel even has the right to exist...Israel is surrounded by countries that would like to see Israel destroyed.

Am Yisroel Chai...May Israel live forever....afterall, they have as much a right as the rest of us...

Because it's the right thing to do. I haven't seen any Israeli's cutting peoples heads off lately. Amazing how quick the media gets people to change their positions on things.
