say for instance that I became a famous politican, celebrity, or say the general manager of a professional football team. Remember this is all hypothetical and I just threw out some big titles. If any of those things ended up becoming true would old friends that I hadn't talked to in years, and people that I didn't get along with ( people I disliked), would they be able to profit from my success??? Like by writing a book that was negative about me....or selling stuff to tabloids?????

keep in mind i'm talking about ordinary people making money off this not people that were already famous.

They probably would not be able to write and sell a book themselves, but certainly could sell negative stories to the tabloids or by contributing information to books more well-known/better writers would write. Hopefully, the friends wouldn't though.

It's easy for people to take advantage of others, only if you let them... for instance, I just got 2 points off of you! I will try to answer your question beyond that though. You shouldn't be afraid of fame and fortune, just don't abuse it. Sure, there are some people out there who will be jealous because you won't have to "work" for your money anymore. They'll try to profit from your success. If they're good old friends, help them out. If they're just mooching though, and you can tell if they're fake, ditch them. You don't need fake friends- plenty will flock to you anyway. If someone disliked you and tries to write a book of negative things about you- sue them for libel, unless it's true!

Good luck, and remember I'm being a good friend, so if you're going to wind up with tons of money you don't know what to do with, send some my way- I'm tired of having to work and want to spend time with family and trying to make the world a better place. :)

So long as it's even vaguely true, anybody can say anything about you that they want - for profit or not. They may not be able to use your image to promote their books, but if you are a newsworthy person they actually might.

Of course. People can do anything like that. Heck, people you DON'T know will try to profit off you and will make up things in order to do so.
