A Kangaroo's young is known as a Joey. Wallabies are a different animal altogether but are also under the macro pod family.

The Oxford English Dictionary says that the name is "Joey," from an Australian aboriginal word pronounced the same. It is also applied to a young child or small dog or pet. The first reported use of the word in the English language, according to the OED, occurred in 1830.
Now, a kangaroo at its earliest stage, before emerging from its mother's pouch, is a "grub." But perhaps that is TOO young, eh?

The name of the mother and son kangaroos on Winnie the Pooh were named, aptly, Kanga and Roo. They were NOT named Roo and Joey.
And the young of a female kangaroo is a joey.
