There is no proper etiquette here.

You were an idiot to place a broken pencil in your EARS in the first place!

There is absolutely no known proper etiquette in this situation. You pulled a silly prank and she responded violently. She could have killed you. First, do not put yourself in that situation again. Second, tell your Mom to see if you need medical attention. Third, your mother should make sure that her mother is made aware of what she did. This girl needs some serious discipline.

Hmmm... good question?

I think you're in the area of having a right to be angry, after all the girl acted foolishly by her action and caused you some harm; however, you were being equally foolish in your little folly, though it was harmless to everyone but you.

I think you ought to swallow your anger in this case, and provided that there has been no lasting physical damage to your ear, call the whole thing a draw between you and the young lady... (who I suspect felt immediately remorseful over the result of her rash behavior.)

Perhaps there is something to be learned by the experience, though ... and I suggest you ought to learn it and behave accordingly: Avoid putting anything smalled than your elbow into your ear - you'll live a lot longer.

Forget etiquette and concern yourself with the possible damage done to your middle ear. See a doctor.

Say "Pardon me, but that pencil was just for show. It was supposed to be a JOKE that it went through my head. I really didn't want it to go through." Then go to the emergency room, and have her foot the bill.

Send her a bill from the E.R. attached with a Thank-You note since if it weren't for her ruthless act and your mere stupidity you wouldn't be able to collect a disablity check every month now that you are legally deaf! : )

The moral of the story here is:"Don't put things in your ears"
