Because we have a brain and we use it.to much i agree but i think that is the answer......in order for us to find the answers we are looking for we have to analyze things up and down and sideways..............it is just the way we were made

The 'simple' trait you're talking about is superficiality. And that's fine if all you ask are simple questions like "what color is the sky?" But life is not that simple.
When I first worked as a claim's investigator, there weren't that many women doing the job. But once they started hiring more women, they found out women did the job better because they dug deeper, got to the facts faster and analyzed better.
Men were superficial, relying on gut reactions without digging as deeply.
Women have gut reactions too and they have their place, but many situations require analytical abilities and women just do that better.

Men can't give us straight answers...we have to fill in the blanks. The problem lies in what we fill those blanks with.
