There are a lot of confused opinions on the subject and the parenting and pregnancy section has questions from some scared and vunerable people, some of whom are very young. I don't really think this is the place to be calling them murderers, what do you think?
I have heard similar problems with religous zealots going into the Gay section to do a bit of queer bashing.
Any opinions, I would like a consensus of opinion (should this question therefore be in the polls&surveys section?)

Well so far everyone aggreees with me, that eeither means all the pro lifers that were calling young girls murderers upto 5 mins ago have dropped dead, got the idea and moved or just dont like to talk about it.
Please, speak up, I want to know, it is important for all of us to know, with whom we share a platform

Sorry, didn't mean to label pro lifers as religious nut cases, I don't agree with them but accept their riht to an opinion. Just think that advice should always be given with a level of empathy and love

Except for Danielle . who obviously is a nut. Abortion is not murder! Say it's wrong, say you'll go to hell but do not lie!

It doesn't matter what section it is in. It's not like there is a law that says these questions have to be in the right sections. What would be the correct section for the pro-life questions anyway? I think they go perfectly in the parenting/pregnancy section because abortion is the killing of babies therefore it should go in the section where we're all talking about babies and children. Don't you have anything better to do anyway then sit around here and tell people what sections there questions belong in?

i agree that the pro life debate should not be thrust upon young impressionable minds especially when they are going through a tough time. everyone needs to make a descision that they can live with and calling anyone a murderer for making the best descision they can is wrong.
i am not religious but know i could never abort or give away a child, but some people are not as lucky as i have been. if we all started having loads of children especially with the high survival rate due to medical advances then the world would be in chaos.
instead i am pro contraception, but everyone can make mistakes should a teenager be punished for the rest of their lives for having made one?

I agree that the topic should be moved. The pro-life people in this section seem to make several generalizations about abortion, including, (but not restricted to):
Abortion patients are slutty teens!
- Not all women who abort are teens. Many of them are married, older, college education, ect. I recently made a trip myself and the only people with me were married and in their 30's. There was one girl who was 17 out of 10 people.)
They had sex so they should suffer! (mind you, this is the notion that women who did everything they could to protect themselves and still got pregnant should be in pain and financial disarray.)
Abortion is murder! (Not legally.)
You are going to hell! (What about the people who don't believe in hell? What about the -other- religious beliefs?)
I think the entire debate should be moved to a whole new catagory. I also think there should be a forum for abortion advice and support. I am sure many women preparing for one are absolutely TERRIFIED to post here for help and advice.

sure why not i agree some people asking about abortion are very young. If you are pro life or pro choice thou FACTS need to be know to these girls. I am pro choice but, i don't pretend its a blob it's a fast answer. YES it's often necessary and THE RIGHT thing to do even if your only 14 you should know BOTH side before you decide on a life changing topic

Not really worth worrying about where to put it.
My own opinion: A woman has the right to choose.
Late abortions are wrong unless there is a VERY good reason

I think there are far too many religious people pushing their opinions...all we can really do is reassure those asking the question and baffle pro-life/anti-choice folks with the arguments on; herbal abortion, contraception, miscarriage and parenting starting before conception...oh and biology, gotta love the evils of biology that trumps their 'but it's murder!' every time. [/snark]

It would be fine to make a section specifically for abortion questions, I think. However, if any vulnerable girls come here asking about it, they should be forced to go ask at the correct site.

I agree with your opinion, and am myself pro-life (and religious... perhaps not a zealot, though).
Regardless of one's opinion, we can certainly treat those in need with empathy and respect. There is an appropriate way to discourage abortion while not being demeaning. The problem with the internet is its anonymous nature seems to encourage people to be rude.

Isn't there a POLITICS section? That's where I'd go. I would say this section is a bad section to put it in. Why the Barney picture? I think the Barney icon is a bit creepy with the topic...just my opinion.

Abortion is a personal and private choice. Leave it for discussion on religious boards.
As for people throwing insults at those who have chosen to abort, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
I won't judge. I've never walked in anyone else's shoes.
