I flippin' hate the remakes, ALL of them. The Grudge was probably the best example of Japanese Horror remade in to a steaming pill. Ju-on was freakin creepy and dark and actually gave me chills at times. I have seen that they are going to remake Battle Royale, I cringe at the idea that Hollywood will probably change the movie to the point that it can't really be classified as a remake anymore. If people want to see it but hate the subtitles then lets work on making some english dubbed japanese flicks otherwise leave them alone!

American remakes suck.

The ring sucked
The grudge sucked
The ring two was even worse than the first.

Why can't holywood come up with it's own original ideas to put on film? When they do we end up with crap like "wedding crashers" Holywood hasn't had an original thought in 20 years. That's why everything these days is a remake.

I definatly fall into that catagory. They take good Japanese movies and destroy them, like Ju-on into the crappy Grudge. And they take an already bad movie like Dark Water (I don't see why people liked the J-horror one, as a fan of the genre, hated it) even worse. But then are we surprise, they have no origionality in Hollywood anyway and plumb the depths for ideas.

completely agree - any new horror movie that is coming out - just wait for it to get close to being in the theater, and then some channel will play the Asian version which is much better anyway
