Should I pursue going for this?

A Teacher at my school has given me a chance to write a book of poetry to be entered into a contest. Male poets are labeled as gay and sensitive, and in high school that's tough to deal with. Should I do it, because how many chance like this am i going to get, or should i back out and forget it?

Male poets are not labled as gay, where did u hear this. You should go for yours and do it. It dont matter what people think of u. U will actually get a lot of girls cuz girls love stuff like that. plus u can write girls poems and they will be all over u.

You go for it. You need to get to a point in your life that you dont care what other people think. Me, I was a football and baseball playing jock in high school but I was still a member to the school choir which people label as being a nerd or whatever. You will eventually be out of high school and it will not matter. Who knows, you could be on your way to becoming rich and famous. That is always a good way of sticking back in their faces if they do label you in any way.

You should definitely do it! Like you said when are you going to get a chance to do something like this again. Plus, it is much better for you to get as much published as you can if you are serious about being a writer. Don't worry about what people think because in high school if it isn't one thing it is another.

Do what you like. Don't pay attention to what other people think. Most people are so self absorbed they rarely think about you anyway. Were you thinking about me?
