I use Vonage now and they have been horrible with customer service and still have not ported my number after 49 days. There has to be a better company out there...

Why not try verizon...
https://www22.verizon.com/ForYourHome/VOIP/VOIPHome.aspx

If that doesn't work for you, look at the list on this website...
http://www.voipproviderslist.com/country/voip-usa/voip-providers-usa/

the list shows all the Voice Over IP providers in the US, the home page will show by country

I have not had any problems with Vonage. This might be your adapter, or maybe a bandwidth problem with your high speed. The vonage support guy should have been able to test your bandwidth. If that was OK, then he should have moved on to consider getting you a new adapter.

I have taken my adapter with me on Vacation. Last summer, I was in Hong Kong for ten days. In fact, we helped people on our tour to call home during the early morning hours, so we logged dozens of calls each morning for FREE. This summer, I was in Boston for 8 days. In both cases, NO PROBLEM. The signal and voice was rock solid.

One of my friends also had trouble with his vonage service. He switched to another service, and the problems were IDENTICAL. So the problem was with his cable company. He probably could have switched again to use the phone that his cable provider sells. You see, that way, their service guy could show up and fix the phone, phone adapter or cable service. But he switched back to using an old fashion telephone wire with SBC... so now he's back with AT&T like he had it over 20 years ago. FULL CIRCLE.

So my advice is to TRY YOUR CABLE COMPANY, so you have only one guy to HOLLER at.

Good luck

I personally don't like Vonage as they charge too much. I kicked out SBC over a year ago and am now using BroadVoice as my only phone! I pay $9.99 a month for Unlimited In-State calling. The rest of the US is something like 4 cents a minute. What I really got it for was for International. I call Japan for 3 cents a minute... Can't beat that. There is a onetime setup fee of $39.95.

I use Netzero 14.95.The first three months were free. I do not know if this deal is in play. Vonage is priced too high. The Internet has many VOIP providers for less. The price has voice included.

None of them are particularly good. I have tried Vonage, Time Warner, and Sunrocket. They are all unreliable services. Stick with your land line.

Verizon also has this service. Check there home page. I'm thinking of getting it now cause its a bit cheaper than havin a regular line.
