Teething could be the key factor here. Also, if she is eating some solid foods she won't want as much formula Our pediatrition told me years ago that a baby will eat when they are hungry. Good Luck ,parenting is a challenge, but very worth while..

My son just started on solids also...and he is only taking like 3 or 4 6 oz bottles during the day. My dr told me that is perfectly normal because they are still getting nutrients from the food and they are getting iron in the formula. Plus if she is eating the rice cereal then she is getting enough iron also. Good luck with the feeding it sure is nice not spending tons of money on formula a month huh!

5 months old seems a little young for solid food yet??? But also teething changes the babies sense of eating and taste. If she is taking to the solids good than I would just give her less so she will take her formula.
Good Luck

she will have the capacity to't have formula, if there is no formula. and she or he has were given you found out. She whines - you finally supply in. you want to get rid of the formula so that you won't be able to offer in. as the different poster stated - she will have the capacity to no longer starve herself. she will have the capacity to ultimately devour if there is foodstuff for her to devour. She's manipulating you in that little infant way that all of them study a thanks to do. She may be cranky and throw matches - notwithstanding the longer it takes to get her on solids, the further of a wrestle she'll post. they favor to be uncovered to textures and tastes as early as plausible - or they're going to refuse them and also you'll have your fingers finished - very corresponding to you do now. i'd recommend slicing out the formula and easily providing milk interior the morning (or before nap) and at nighttime, after dinner. in the different case, she may only swap from formula to exploit - too a lot milk can ward off iron absorption and reason anemia, or 'milk children' because it is typically talked about as. she will have the capacity to commence eating. in case you experience she remains no longer getting the foodstuff she needs in per week or 2 of no formula and immediately foodstuff - you could communicate with your medical professional about making use of the 'infant advance up' formula to supplement on days she would not devour nicely - yet no longer all day each day.

Well girl, count yourself lucky. Cause my son is 8 months and has never drank formula, EVER!! Hes at the nursery while Im at work and all he has is solid food and fruit, juice and lots of water. Dont worry about it. My pediatrician told me that a baby never starves themselves. So chances are, the solids are filling up your baby and he doesnnt need the formula as much as he use to.

It's normal for formula intake to go down when they start eating baby food. She is getting nutrients from the baby food too, so no worries!

that is fine! she is just filling up on her food, that's all. it is good to get her used to switching from just drinking formula to having solid foods. remember, by one she shouldn't be drinking formula at all.
also, make sure you make her cereal with formula--i just would add whatever i made in my son's bottle directly to his cereal, then he would get his full 8oz. bottle at meal time.
eventually she won't even drink the full 8oz.(or whatever her max is). just let her tell you how much she wants. :-)
