It seems all the sites that I have gone to are asking for subscriptions to actually see the info about the names they claim to have in their databases. They tell you they have info on a surname and then direct you to get a monthly or annual subscription. I've already searched Ancestor.com, Ged web and Family Tree Maker.

www,familysearch.org is a LDS family search site and you can get some free cenus records there. I like the message boards on ancestry and www.rootsweb.com also www.gencircle,com is good. I think you get more info from other people than you do from the paid things. Also you can post on the message boards "Could someone who has a subscription look up something for me" Alot of people will help You.
