You won't sleep unless you resort to taking drugs. Planes are so hard to sleep on even if there is no fear of them. They are noisy with bad recycled dry air, and there's no room to really stretch out. I'm 6'4" and can never get comfortable enough on a plane to sleep. Long international flights that are not fully booked with a triple seat middle section could get you some space to lay out but they go quick. It's like the game where everyone circles the chairs as the music plays until it stops, then they all scramble for a seat. As soon as the no seat belt sign goes off it's a mad grab to get an open isle section. Good luck, and remember, there's always drugs, (which would probably make your jet lag really bad)

I was the same, but I went to the Drs and he gave me these pills which stop your heart racing and thereby stop panic. I was really scared about flying and I took one of these pills 20 mins before I flew and hey presto, I just walked onto the plane.
sleeping is difficult though as there is not much room and you cant get comfy, but if you are on a long flight you can watch the films or watch where you are on the flight recorder, I enjoyed that.
Also the staff are brilliant and make the time pass quickly with feeding you and bringing you headphones and drinks etc so the time passes quite quickly.
I am sure you will be fine as it is still the safest way to travel, (thats what I kept telling myself!)

I am the same way. I take over the counter Dramamine about an hour before I fly. Usually I am half asleep by the time they start boarding.

You can drink, but I wouldn't recommend getting drunk. They won't appreciate that...
