Hand-eye co-ordination is very important to be able to actually hit the ball.
Strength is important for generating enough power to be able to hit the ball far.
Pace and acceleration to make it as far around the bases as you can and to chase a ball if fielding.
Tactical thinking to spot a weakness in the field to exploit it and to see where it is possible to knock the ball safe.
Batting skills to be able to control the strike and direct the ball where you want it.
Catching for when fielding to get opposing batsmen out.
Throwing to be able to get ball to another fielder on a base.

I looked up wiki that seems to sum it up very well. I tend to think of American baseball the same as rounders as well. Yep read the link on baseball and it originated from rounders. :)
