There is computer hardware that directs the ink flow that they recycle out of it to use on 'new' cartridges.

They probably refill them with ink and resell them. You're saving them mucho bucks cause instead of having to manufacture more, they instead reuse it and resell it at full price. Unfair if you ask me, I'd rather throw it away then help save them money.
