Lotr of course. I like both of them, but Lotr is far superior: better books and definitely better movies.

If you really read the Harry Potter books ... in the long run Lord of the Rings was the basis for it ...

I'm like you, I prefer Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter, but I love both. I love fantasy films!
And nodoublespeak, you can like a movie without being immature or whatever you said. You just sound like a stuck up snob who's always gotten whatever you want, and think that just because you dont like something nobody else can like it. Come on, grow up! I know plenty of people who love LOTR and HP (the books and movies), that doesn't mean that their immature or anything, it means that they have a mind of their own and can like it if they want to.

I prefer neither.
Harry Potter is for people with IQ less than 50 and who suck their thumbs. In fact, popularity of Harry Potter is the indicator of the state of the world today - rock bottom. President Geoge Bush can get away with the lie of the century - Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) in Iraq. Pakistan can get away with providing safe haven to Osama Bin Ladin and still be a great pal of the USA.
Lord of the Rings is again for those escapists who believe in "fairy tales".
Come on dear, get to the real world and leave these behind. We are not kids anymore.
