Why does Bush think it's ok to send thousands of young troops to die in a pointless war, obviously driven by the lust for oil and power, and is 'just appalled' at the idea of using embryonic stem cells in research that could potentially cure some horrible diseases? Anyone have any theories?

Wish I had a good answer for that, but I don't seem to.

This is not a valid question because the two are completely different things.

First, it's a matter of opinion whether this war is pointless or not.

It is an outright lie and malicious slander to say it was for oil and power. It is this anti-Bush irrationality that has caused the divisiveness in this country; yet you blame it on Bush, though he has rarely had anything but kind words for his opponents.

Second, soldiers volunteered to be in the military, knowing that it entailed putting their lives on the line to protect America and protect people. It is an honorable and noble duty they chose. This war is predicated on the principle that when terrorists are fighting for their lives, they can't bomb US targets. Also that when people are offered freedom, they will take it over tyranny. And that democratic countries have historically been peaceful. Stopping tyrannic and oppressive regimes from continued murder of their own citizens and support of terrorism is not 'pointless'.

Third, many people consider embryos to be human life. It has unique human DNA, and, if implanted and allowed to live, will become a human being. People who believe in the sanctity of life do not blithely disregard pre-born humans.

And President Bush has not lightly taken his responsibilities, especially those that have given him power to deploy the military into war. To claim that he hasn't is a vicious lie, and another example of the divisiveness caused solely by his detractors.

My theory is that you seethe with irrational hatred of Bush.

Because the troops CHOOSE to serve the country in it's DEFENSE ( I can see why you think it's for oil though seeing how gas and energy prices are at an all time rock bottom -- Insert sarcasim)

A baby does not choose to die even if the mom or dad want to murder it.

Going back to the troops... what would all you people have said about Bush if he just sat on his hands after 9/11 and just said "gosh what a shame" and did nothing? You'd complain that he's the worst pres. for doing nothing. Again, there was no draft, these people signed UP.

Dubya is a hypocrite.
Stem cell research is vaulable and beneficial to everyone. A majority of Americans polled believe it is acceptable to use stem cells for research purposes.
Besides some folks answering here have forgotten or don't know that the US military has forced some soldiers to stay in service despite their enlistment period being completed. The military calls it 'stop loss.' It's also known as a 'backdoor draft.' That is NOT voluntary. Those soldiers have no choice.

Because Sodiers enlist knowing that they might have to fight and die, these embryos haven't even had a chance at life yet. Ant the war is not oil driven. The whole point was to get to Iran by having free, democratic nations on either side. Crush the snakes head so to speak.

Soldiers that have voluntarily enlisted in the military are being sent over to fight in a war that is very important. Embryonic stem cells are taken form embryos (fertilized eggs, in otherwords, human life). Don't try to sound as though you are educated in this matter, as there is no comparison. If you are so upset with the United States and the way it is run, move to Iraq so you can see for yourself why we are fighting this war.
Being against this war is helping no one and is in no way making it easier for soldiers to do their job.

Because we have a volunteer army. Get it? They CHOSE to be there. Pre-born babies CANNOT chose whether they live or die. Babies should not be made simply for research. Adult stem cells & cord stem cells can be used in place of embryonic cells.

Our military is made up of people who chose to do what they are doing. No one forced them. Unborn children(where they get embryonic stem cells) were never asked if they wanted to sacrifice their lives to save a stranger.

I think some of you miss the science of stem cells.

You dont have to abort a baby to get them, you can get them from the unbelliycal cord of the baby.

It would be my choice if i had a disease to have a Zygote (pre baby) aborted to save my own life........

President does not give a **** about the troops (whom sign up of their own will to die)
He doesnt care about any of you
BUT THATS YOUR ******* FALT FOR VOTING FOR HIM!!!

Maybe cause stem cells don't fart...I bet when Bush was young his older siblings farted in bed, then shoved him under the blankets...that would be truly traumatic.

Your ideas are idiotic. Troops sign up to do what they do. Embyos don't have a choice. Next time, think before you type.
