It doesn't, and you can't.

What makes you think the sperm *are* coming out of you? Sperm are *microscopic*--in fact, they're the *smallest* cells of the human body, and almost *all* human cells are microscopic! the only way you could possibly know if the sperm are coming out is to keep a microscope next to your bed.

Following ejaculation, the sperm are pulled and swim up through the cervix into the uterus and towards the Fallopian tubes, where an egg will hopefully shortly appear. The semen--whose 15-second job was to get the sperm into your body--is now unemployed. It doesn't *matter* if it leaks out, falls through a crack in your vagina, or is magically turned into apple juice.

There is *no* evidence that putting a pillow under your hips for 10 mnutes or half an hour (or whatever the current crazy recommendation is) makes *any* difference, but it won't hurt. If it makes you feel better, do it...although if you feel better lying naked upside down on the bed, some people might wonder about you!! (And it really doesn't make much sense anyway--your cervix is *not* at the end of the vagina; it's about 2/3 of the way up, in front, so getting all the semen down at the end in back couldn't really help much!!)

Don't worry about it - there are so many sperm that though you may lose loads, there will also be loads already in the cervix and swimming upstream. The lost ones are immaterial - that's why nature makes so many.

If it makes you feel better some positions may help - doggy style or him standing behind you while you kneel on the bed.

They also say that female orgasm is designed (particularly if in the missionary position) to help the cervix enter the pool of semen - so go all out for orgasm.

Hurrah for orgasm!!!

PS - good luck.

I just wanted to back up what "proffesional" has said. There is very little benefit to putting your legs in the air. In fact it can be detrimental as all of the semen will pool at the base of the vagina. The cervix actually looks like a little nub and sticks up about an inch. If you stick your legs up too high then the cervix won't come into contact with the semen at all.

Lay on your stomach and place a pillow under your hips, this will facilitate sperm motility to the fallopian tubes. I assume you ask this because you are trying to get pregnant. There are a number of fertility sites to reference on the net. Look into it.

Otherwise, what goes in, must come out.

No way to stop it.

hi, the best thing to do is make sure that a pillow or 2 is under ur hips the whole way through (then u wont have to move afterwards to put one under) and stay like that for a while, this tilts the pelvis so thus helpin the sperm get to where its goin.....
if ur not tryin to get pregnant then sorry ducky but all of us have to put up with the drips afterwards n there is nothin u can do bout it

Lay on your back for 20-45 min, with a pillow under your butt. Don't move after sex. And do it doggy style or missionary, those are the best positions for concieving.

the great thing about sperm, there are so many that some are going to come out and some are going for the gold. You only need one and there are millions each time! Good luck!!!

If you are trying to get pregnant and your partner ejaculates inside you you don't have to worry about it as there will be millions of sperm and if it is the right time, the one that you need to do the fertilisation will be in your fallopian tubes before your breathing even returns to normal.

Relax and don't worry about it.

You don't need to 'cos it's natural. The medical term for it is "effluvium seminalis" and it does not prevent any one who wants to from conceiving. The sperm needed for fertilization has already reached the fallopian tubes.

What I found that has helped me was putting a pillow under my butt for about thirty mintues. Usally the reason for it happening is that we got up right after or we have a sudden move or strain for some reason. Always try to stay still for about thirty mintues after sex
