who do you think is the best of these four grudge gods?

In a battle of the slightly depressed, coffee drinkin', herion poppin' Seattle uberbands...where only one band can survive...Kurt and his boys take the sweaty, grunde filled trophy....though Layne Staley looked like he nearly got a hold on one of the golden handles (before he knodded off).

Just ask your Foo Fighters and your Courtney Love Holes. Ask Mother Love Bone. ...Nirvana has transcended this pathetic genre. It's like comparing the Rolling Stones to Herman's Hermits (who?). Only one band has achieved Legend...because they are simply the best of the best...the shinest lump of grease in this star studded gutter.

Pearl Jam - Nirvana is overrated, Soundgarden doesn't have staying power, and Alice In Chains would only belt out a hit once every 3 years - and it wasn't even that good.

PEARL JAM.

Nirvana. They started Grunge. Pearl Jam kind of died out for a while. Granted Nirvana could have too. But they are so huge and famous because of Kurts death. They gained popularity. Alice in chains is 2nd. The grunge scene in general is gret. I hate chris cornells voice so he takes 4th with sound garden. Pearl jam is in third and I woudl love to seem them live.

Wow, tough one. I think Kurt Cobain was the best songwriter, with Jerry Cantrell in a close 2nd. I think Layne Staley was a great singer, but Chris Cornell is the best of these four bands. The man has some amazing pipes! Listen to the end of Say Hello to Heaven by temple of the dog, and you'll see what I mean.

I think Mike McCready is an awesome guitarist, but Jerry Cantrell is better.

As much as I like Pearl Jam, they are at the bottom of this list.

Well, without Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden wouldn't have blown up. AIC isn't technically a grunge band, they just kind of got lumped in. I'm gonna run with Nirvana on this one.

Nirvana

They are all best at different things. Really I can't choose between them. They all have totally different strengths and weaknesses. And they are all leaders in their genre. For instance, I love Nirvana, in fact two days before Kurt died I said to a friend, "Could you imagine life without Nirvana? What did we listen to before?" Creepy, I know. But back to my point, I love, really love Nirvana. But I can't live without my Alice in Chains Unplugged CD. It's impossible to choose..............

Trixwagon knows what he's talking about! I agree with his entire answer. And so well written.........lol!

Alice In Chains, simple because the took grudge and made it their own style.

If Layne was alive today they would be the greatest. I still think they are but they never had a chance to prove it.
