Wlan Advantages

Advantage: Ability to freely roam from room to room while maintaining Internet / network connection. It's actually remarkably useful once you have it.

Disadvantages:

(a) Slower. Please note, however, that a typical WLAN will still be faster than your internet connection. That means that if you are using your WLAN primarily to access the Internet connection, then speed is NOT an issue -- your access to the Internet will be practically the same speed whether you use wireless or if you use a wired connection. However, if your primary purpose for using WLAN is to access other computers in your network (not other computers on the Internet), then wireless is indeed slower, about 4x to 40x slower, practically.

(b) Arguably less secure. You can do things to secure it, but wireless is still technically less secure than wired.
