I watched the special too. Kevin Smith was joking that he was inspired to make a new movie because he had bills to pay. Instead of saying that he "thought the word was ready for Clerks 2", he made a joke.

ok..i didnt see the 1st clerk movie..and just going by the trailer i JUST want to see the guy dancing feeling his nipples..just for that part alone i would consider buying it bootleg...haha
