I know this may sound strange but there is a product that is used on milk cows called "Bag Balm" and it works wonders. I was taken aback when my Dr. advised me to use this but was sore enough to try anything and it was wonderful. Ask your pharmacist if he carries it if not he might be able to order you some. You could even contact your local vet he will surely either have some on hand or at least be able to get you some. Good Luck and I promise it won't make you Moo, lol...

How To Relieve Sore Nipples

2016-11-07 06:33:58 · answer #3 · answered by blomstrand 4 · 0 0

My nipples started hurting around five weeks, so I suppose they could start hurting two weeks earlier for you; everbody's different. I will tell you though, sometimes it hurts so bad that I want to rip my nipples OFF. Especially when I'm wearing a bra for an extended period of time or am in a cold environment. They burn so badly- I hate it. I've taken to wearing those little gel sack things they sell for underendowed women (bra implants? don't know what they're actually called) over my nipples to give them some relief from the pressure of the bra.

I know you said during pregnancy so it has nothing to do w/ formula... so I recommend using a warm cloth and if you have any milk yet rub some of it on your nipples it will help... that's the cheapest and easiest way to go w/o using medication.

There isn't a whole lot you can do for sore nipples during pregnancy. Just make sure you wear a comfortable bra and one that doesn't let your clothing rub them, that makes it worse.

There is no drug that the doctors will offer my girlfriend and you are in the same shoes we have tried everything and still no hope like the other person said consult your doctor about changing your feeding habbits.

Watch for infection: Symptoms of breast infection include fever, painful lumps and redness in the breast. These require immediate medical attention.
Expect engorgement: A new mother usually produces lots of milk, making her breasts big, hard and painful for a few days. To relieve this engorgement, she should feed the baby frequently and on demand until her body adjusts and produces only what the baby needs. In the meantime, the mother can take over-the-counter pain relievers, apply warm, wet compresses to her breasts and take warm baths to relieve the pain.

Mine were extremely sore..I used a ointment called lanisoh to soften them up. You can also use it while nursing(it won't hurt baby so you don't have to wash it off) and it worked like a charm

There's a soothing ointment called Lansinoh. Also, wet tag bags applied can help.
