Check out www.greatschools.net. You can get general information - demographics, teacher experience, test scores etc from just about every school in the United States.
Of course if you're researching schools for a child, be SURE to go visit the school, talk to the principal and teachers, go to the PTA meetings, etc. Get to know the school community. While general information from sites like greatschools are helpful, it's just ONE parameter you should use to choose a school. People that judge schools just on test scores is like buying a house based on the blueprints without actually seeing and experiencing the house firsthand.

There is a website...I can't think of the name; But, it is a ranking of schools (by the parents whose children attend them). It is wonderful...It says how far it is from your home, it even includes ratings of ethnicity, so you know ahead of time if your child is the only 1 of his race, thus being subject to offense. I would google it if I were you. I've only seen 1, so far, for the state of Indiana...lol
