It has been suggested that black holes could be gateways to other universes or other parts of our universe. It is possible that the intense gravitational field could warp space enough, so as to connect two distance points, making travel between the two points virtually instantaneous. The trick would be to survive the intense gravitational field as you attempted to pass through the gateway, as the front of your body would accelerate infinitely faster than the back of your body, ripping you apart at the atomic structure.
