I don't understand this. Is that implying that men are naturally more sexual and therefore their behavior is more accepted than sexuality in women? Also, if it's safe, sane, and consentual, why should it matter? It just seems to be saying to me "it's ok for men to sleep with lots of women because they don't have to value relationships, but women should" Sounds very sexist to me, and sends my feminist hairs on end.

You pretty well answered your own question. I'm no feminist, but men do have a greater sex drive than women, and it was men who came up with these terms. You will find the same to be true in nature. In troops of macaques (monkeys), if the dominant male catches another male having sex with one of his females, he will punish the female instead of the male. It is all rather warped. Men don't have a problem taking another man's woman, but heaven forbid if another man tries to take one of his women!!! It is an ancient instinct that dates back to when philandering of males was necessary to prevent inbreeding and maintain genetic diversity. It is just that most men haven't outgrown this yet. Also, it is rarer for a female to sleep with lots of men, so those that do stand out more than men do. Also, most of the women who are like this are prostitutes who make money from sexual activity. Think of it this way ... Women have matured more, sexually speaking, in the past 100,000 years, and thus value relationships more than men do. Men (as a well known, scientific fact), do not mature as quickly as women, so, just give them another 100,000 years to catch up to us!!

I would have to agree with you on this issue although I also think that the reason women are seen as the worst of the two is because men are more likely talk about there sexual incounters then women. We as women feel our sexual life is a private issue and not up for discussion as where some men shoot off there mouths every time they "get lucky" I think its sorta like bragging rights. Some men will even make up incounters just so that there friends thinks that they are all that and a beg of doritos ya know what I mean?? Although I can say that there are those men that really do respect there partners and would never speak of what they do behind closed doors and to those men I say Good for you.And there are those women that brag just as much as some men and to them I say Shame on you. What it all boils down to is Sex is ment to be a beautiful thing between two people it should be privite and respected not blabbed to anyone who will listen.

Just the double standards of this society. But, if you ask me men can be hoes too. Here is something I found on another website about this.

"A notorious type of double standard is the classic "studs vs. sluts" model, in which a man who has sex with many female partners is considered a "stud" or "player" (which are often considered compliments) while a woman who has sex with many male partners is considered a "slut" or "skank" (which are highly pejorative terms). This is related to the madonna-whore dichotomy (also called the virgin-whore dichotomy). Proponents of this double standard would say that it is justified by natural law (men naturally cannot help it but women can and are thus supposed to function as the "gatekeepers"), while opponents would say that such an assumption is sexist and based on outmoded views of sexuality. Opponents may differ with one another; some feel that non-monogamy and/or promiscuity is a good thing for both sexes, some feel it is wrong for both sexes, and others are simply view it as neutral. However, this double standard is gradually breaking down, as evidenced by neologisms such as "playette" (a female "player") and "man-slut" (a man who sleeps around). Gender-neutral terms such as "free-lover", "free-spirit", or "libertine" may also be used as well nowadays."

Because too many men (and women) still have antiquated ideas of what a "lady" should behave like. Yes, it's a double-standard. It isn't fair. I personally think that a guy who sleeps with lots of partners is a whore too. Sex shouldn't be taken as a casual act, especially in this day and age when lethal STDs abound.

Because we live in a sexist society that is usually controlled by men. Sex is a symbol of power so men try to have as much as they can while preventing women from doing the same thing, therefore denying them power over their own bodies

Guys don't always make rules, and many times girlscall agalwith many partners a hoe behind her back themselves.

It is a ditch the have dug for themselves. A guy is called a stud by other guys, who admire this quality(???) in him. Girls on otherhand don't find it an endearing orshould I say, admirable quality in their female friends ( Perhaps cos statistically speaking, more girls exist then boys, cos the female infants are more likely to survive than male. Ergo, guys, and especially good guys are perennially in short supply, and no one likes other person depleting an already scarce resource . It is a bit socialistic, perhaps)

But as someone said, it is easierfora woman to protect herself against men , than to protect her reputation among women.

But yes, people should stick to the one they love.

A guy isn't a stud because he sleeps around. If this is something you have chosen to believe, I think you have chosen society's myths as your personal value system. You don't have to do that. I choose to put the same standards on men as I do women. If a guys sleeps around a lot, he is a h*. If a woman sleeps around a lot, she is a h*. Done. You have your own mind and the choice to believe whatever YOU want to believe. Please don't let society command power over your mind.

It's a long old story! Many many moons ago it was considered normal for boys/men to have sex with as many women as they could! It was deemed to be a 'healthy appetite' and promising for their wife to be! Seriously whereas of course, women were to have a white wedding and that included ... Being virgins! Were they not then ... Anything could happen to them! They were rejected by society etc. So and even though evolution took place ... There is still that idea that it's OK for a man, not for a woman although with the ladette culture ... I think it'll soon be a thing from the past!

It's also to do with beliefs and religions! Many religions still see a woman role as keeping herself for her husband to be. So i' m afraid there will be more hair pulling from your part! My idea is ... These men who enjoy having sex with countless women ... Wouldn't do so unless they found women who consent to it and one of such may well turn out to be their future bride to be!

A "stud" is actually someone who is really good looking. The word you are searching for is "womenizer". And it sounds like you are looking for an excuse to go whoring around. Both sexes have the same rules, depending on your morals, you will either treat them both the same or not. For example, as a christian I would never think about a man sleeping around as "ok". It's not ok for either to be sleeping around.
