I wouldn't have any problem voting for a Mormon president. As long as the person shared my values, had a good program agenda, and followed the laws of my country then there would be no reason for me to not vote for them even though they worship under a different roof. That would actually be one of the last things I would look at. When I qualify a candidate my first requirement is gut feeling, then I go from there.

Well, a poll in 1997 showed that 17% of Americans wouldn't vote for a mormon president. But that still leaves 83% that would. Plus that was ten years ago, and every year that passes, people butter understand and accept the church.

I would never vote for an espoused Satanist or one who actively pushes atheism. I would vote for a Mormon without reserve, for most Mormons with which I have association are decent, upstanding folks who live a clean, moral lifestyle. We need honest people leading our country. We need a President who will "pray always" unto our Father in Heaven for guidance and help in leading the USA.

Yes I would. A persons religion should have little impact on how they perform their presidential duties. Also, Mormons are good decent Americans. Forty five years ago people were actually concerned that if a Catholic was elected he would take orders from the Pope. That was ignorant thinking.

It's an interesting question, as Mitt Romney, governor of Massachusetts, is a credible candidate. But I quote from the Constitution: "... no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." [Art. VI.]

I believe that Michigan had a Mormon for governor -- Romney, I believe. He's the father of Mitt Romney who is governor of Massachusetts.
I hope I have my facts right. In any case they didn't let their religious belief get in the way of their jobs so why not consider one for president?
I am Catholic if that has any impact on my answer.

Yes for one I am a Mormon, but I really don't think that matters to most people. I think that most of us would judge him on the issues.

Hell - I didn't vote for him* as governor, I'm sure as hell not voting for him* as president. But not because he's mormon, rather because he's pure evil.

Sure why not. What they stand for is more important than what their religion is. If a candidate supports causes I support no matter what political party or religion, I will consider voting for them.

No....because I am not eligible to vote in America, but I would vote for whoever was the best candidate, regardless of their religion.
