1) Stay after school for at least as much time as you lost by coming late. Coming late to school wastes other people's time, so you have to give up some of your own time.

2) Stay after school and do your homework. If you show you are not responsible enough to do it on your own, then you need to have supervision.

3) Sit in the front of the class using a spare textbook. If you can't be responsible for your own textbook you have to use a spare in class, but you have to sit where the teacher can easily keep an eye on it.

4) Both parties go to mediation. Spend time working it out during recess or other free time.

Consequences should be related to the misbehavior. The goal of consequences (not punishments) should be to teach students appropriate ways to behave, not to make them suffer.

For being late, no homework, no textbook : First offense -warning, 2nd-ph home, 3rd-parent/teacher/prin. conference, 4th-parents take parenting course and learn a routine for home so the kid has a chance. 1st offense- fighting should not be tolerated and the student should be suspended according to level of fight/anger/response to teacher to stop. If there is a second offense the student should be placed in the detention/problem student school(there are many names used for these). All other infractions should be handled the same. Bombs, guns, threats, and drugs are reason for immediate removal for the year. If the students and parents are held accountable and taught how to parent, the problems will be solved or removed from the classroom allowing the other students the chance to learn and the teacher will be able to teach well.

dont know how old the child is this is what i do with my child when they act out in class, dont show up for school, homework, fighting in class. this may seem wrong but it works. I make my child wright 3 different letters. the frist one is to the teacher applogizing for the actions and what he/she does wrong. the second one is to the student that he had problems with or fighting with. and the thrid letter is to the class. i make him stand in front of the class and read all three letters out loud, yes i am standing right there why he/she does this. then the letters are put in his/her school file and left there. when they get home they have no tv games or anything left in their room except there beds and dresser. the quite doing what was wrong and till this day they don't mess up in school because they know mom or dad will be there. and if it happens again they will not like the embrassment that comes hope this works for you

1. staying late...after the 3 time....
2. homework during school...say at PE time, lunch time or during their elective classes...or sports... after the 3 time.
3. let them teach the class that day with the teachers book..or at least attempt it...i bet they will not forget it next time...
4. make them return to the class during lunch time with their meal and eat there without any talking( our whole class was so hard on this one teacher that our principal make the whole class eat lunch in that class room with both himself and the teacher for 2 weeks!!! , we hated it!)

really they are punishing themselves by not doing everything they can to get the best education possible....I was taken out of public schools and homeschooled thur high school when i finished my final work was not turned in ... i worked so hard had a 3.7 GPA... and it amounted to nothing!!!!!!! everyone doesn't get the chance to go to school and do their best and finish... they should consider themselves lucky...

for the first thing i suggest doing nothing as long as he isn't disturbing the other people, don't give him special treatment to catch up from what he missed by not being prepared tho; leave that up to him/her. if they are fighting in class depending on how serious it is i would suggest taking him to the principle/suspension for a day or few or kicking him out of the class (again, depending on hwo serious it is)
