Should I get a wrist strap?
What about a metal table?

A wrist strap will dissipate most static charge when connected to a metal surface or other ground. At minimum, touching a bare metal surface will release most charge; handling RAM and ICs by their edges should be enough.

Touching some ground should be enough. You don't need a wrist strap or a metal table.

that is recommended, but the truth is the old ram pc100 and pc 133 was not that sensiitive, the new ram and the faster the ram is the more sensitive to static discharge. so properly handle it and remember on new computers with PCI-E 16 video card install the ram BEFORE you install the video card and anythime you remove the ram you need to remove the video card as it has a memory retention feature

I've shocked my mobo. It still works.

Just touch your case before you work on your computer.
