I am from Liberia, not to be confused with Libya - and if any country was to invade Liberia, it would anger me. God forbid, a European country invaded Liberia, I would hope that all Liberians would do everything in their power to retaliate, including Guerilla Warfare and more.

Therefore, I don't consider the retaliation in Iraq a form of terrorism - instead, it's a group of people (with harsh tactics that I don't neccessarily agree with) fighting to gain control of their land rather then to let the US control their Oil.

Afterall, Guerilla Warfare is how the US defeated England.

No I agree. Our extremely simple minded president thought that we could just go in and take over within a month, God forbid Iraqis actually defend their country. Dick Cheney said that the insurgency was unexpected-what did they think would happen?

I dont' think that that's what they are calling terrorism though, terrorism is SUPPOSEDLY why we wanted to take out Sadam in the first place. Additionally they are supposedly liberating Iraqis from their dictator they aren't advertising it as invading the country for their oil.

I completely agree that guerilla warfare is fair and logical when a country is invaded. Unfortionatly Iraq is not an example. Guerilla warfare is carried out by the government in charge and the military forces of the country that was invaded. Neither is true with the insurgents. Most of them are not participating in guerilla warfare in the common sense but rather a civil war that has plagued islam for centuries.

You're right in a way on the guerilla warfare part, but if the country is run by a dictator who has killed, imprisoned, and tortured his own people, then it is time for the world to say enough is enough and take the dictator out by all means
possible.Liberia is a great country. I have read books on Liberia.

In a perfect world, I would agree with the premise of your statement. The Iraqis were expected to resist in a guerrilla manner for a period of time, however that time has far past. When the attacks became almost solely against Iraqi civilians, and private contractors there to rebuild the nation, by legitimate terrorists like Zarqawi, this ceased to be a guerrilla war and became a series of terrorist attacks. If someone invaded America, I would expect the population to resist. However, in Iraq, it has been a slim minority of the population and has more recently been centered against the civilians living in Iraq rather than the US or Iraqi military/police.
So, ask yourself, if they're a resistance - who are they resisting? Children getting candy from coalition troops? Women and children in a market?

By the way, we didn't defeat the English with guerrilla warfare, it helped, but ultimately the fact we were able to function as a coherent army led to their defeat more than the guerrilla actions against them in the mountains of the west. And, the revolutionary army never set off bombs in public places with the sole intent to kill Americans either. . .

Guerilla warfare is one thing ... but what happens if that "group of people" win. I do not think that will be a good thing for the rest of Iraq.

But i guess what you are saying is that if they win, then the rest of the Iraqi people could just use Guerilla warfare against them.

You're missing the key fact that most of the fighting is being done by non-Iraqis. They are terrorists who have come to Iraq. Most of the Iraqis are glad to finally be free from the torture, rape, and murder of Saddam Hussein.

It depends on why an invading force has come to your country. To rescue you, or to take over your country.

But if somebody invaded your country, you would not go blow up civilians in the market place would you? That is what is happening in Iraq. There are a few attacks against our troops now, but the vast majority are against innocent Iraqi civilians. That is terrorism.

guerilla warfare is fine. Terrorism and killing civilians is NOT fine. I agree with the previous poster, you need to get your facts straight before you start implying stuff.

Did you know that one of the people on Y!A actually made a comment wishing that all the Arabs would go back to where they came from. And that this would stop the violence? That is how poorly informed a lot of us are here in the USA
