We are a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers who are spending a weekend in Amsterdam. We're looking for reasonably priced accomodation that can accomdate our family in one large room or serviced apartment. We would like to stay near museums, and preferably not in the middle of the night life action. Any recommendations are welcome!

It really depends the price you want to pay. I find them all expensive. The hotel Albert is close to my home, in the Pijp: one of the nice neighbourhoods in Amsterdam. It seems a friendly family-hotel. Or the Hotel Vijaya close to the central station. Or the city hotel. All are about 160 - 180 a night for four person room. Maybe you get a discount if you book the hotel direct, not through a office. Really cheap would be Hansje Brinker

My family and I spent a weekend in one of the amsterland apartments in amsterdam. Some of the apartments there are for 4 persons. The location is right in the middle of Amsterdam and also very close to the central station. From the central station every part of town is very easy reachable and the people from the tourist information at the central station are very friendly en helpful. You can also go to a hotel booking site and look for a 4persons room if you want all 4 to be in the same room. But my advise would be to stay in an apartment because it's much nicer there.
