Well...it all depends on the environment you're in. Also, how people were raised... somebody might be ugly and fat, yet very self-confident because he/she was raised in a family where being confident was one of the top priorities;they might also have a talent or something to be proud of, like... their big brain. lol. They get a little over the top with that... and grow self-confident. on the other hand, beautiful/attractive people might have a very high standards family who think that they're not skinny/smart/whatever enough... that grows into insecurity... which in some cases leads to serious problems, even though the person is perfect the way he/she is.

Self-confidence is great. I love self-confident people. However, sometimes, someone who is exuberantly self-confident is actually overcompensating for a deeply-routed insecurity. Maybe the 'beautiful' people don't have that deep deep insecurity so they don't hide their normal insecurities that much?
The truth is actually, your question is false. You generalize WAY too much. You can't actually believe or prove that 'ugly' or 'fat' people are ALL self-confident or even MOSTLY self-confident (if that were true, dieting and cosmetic surgery wouldn't be multi-billion dollar businesses). What you're guilty of is something most of us do in our daily lives, called 'selective perception'...we see and remember things that confirm our points of view but forget things that go against it.
For example, if you get cut off by an Asian driver, someone might say "See...That guy is Asian...I told you they are bad drivers...That lady who nearly hit me yesterday was also Asian!" whereas if you actually had a video camera in your car and reviewed the tape, you might find that you got cut off by 4 white drivers that same day....So what I'm saying is that you may have met 2,3 or 10 'fat' people who seemed really self-confident and 3 or 4 gorgeous people who were insecure, but that is definitely not the norm.
If I could generalize a little bit...I find gorgeous girls might have some extra insecurity because men usually 'prey' upon them when they are quite young and already insecure. They get caught up in boyfriends and dating and also aren't sure how to handle the attention before they really mature and get to know themselves.

what's wrong with being self-confident if you're "ugly" or "fat" sure big girls/boys in little shirts are not attractive but I'm sure it took them years to get over being unnattractive and they've finally come out and realized they can't change their outsides, so if they work on their insides they'll have something to be confident about.
I think beautiful people are insecure because they know they look good, but they're not quite sure what to do with it, or if they can do anything else besides be attractive
ps. I would know I'm one of the beautiful people, just look at my avatar isn't she precious

I think the reason is because people that society deem as ugly and fat think that by showing off...or being overly confident it'll get them a little attention.
Beautiful/Attractive people as you call them, always feel pressured to be "themselves" ...you know, never go out without make up...etc.
Beautiful people come in all shapes and sizes. I guess it all goes back to that old saying that you can't judge a book by it's cover.

I think it boiles down to "motivation". Most attractive (by this I'm assuming you mean fit and thin) people have to work pretty hard to get to that point or stay there as they grow older. Their motivation probably comes from looking in the mirror, comparing themselves to movie stars or models, and finding everything that they can improve. Their motivation comes from their insecurity.
Overweight people have to find a way to cope. They can't find that motivation that gets them to the thin goal, so they have to find a way to cope with their condition. They do this by pretending that they like their appearance just the way they are. Not that they shouldn't like their personality, but it is just a cover-up. I have never met or known an overweight person that wasn't insecure, but they get really good at faking confidence.
As for ugly vs. beautiful. I don't think your theory applies. It really depends on personality.

Possibly because the people you think are ugly or fat have more going on than just what you see on the surface. They can accept that they are talented people, and don't base their worth on beauty alone because it can fade. Once these so-called beautiful people get older, they would lose their confidence anyway as they would lose their value.

Thats not true - most people l know are exactly the oppiset of what you just said... The beautiful/attractive ppl are mostly confident and the fat/ugly people are usually less confident...
Although l think it's not about how they look but how they percieve other people see and appriciate them...

It is because the ugly people have just learned to accept themselves the way they are. They feel that they have no one to impress and the can just be themselves. The beautiful people are always trying to out do others and they feel that they have to continue to try to be the most beautiful.I say to just let your true self show and quit worrying about what others think. It is okay and better to take care of yourself but you do not have to put on a fake face or try to be something you are not.

I don't always find this the case, but I have seen it enough to also wonder why? I think it's because an attractive person identifies with his/her beauty as self worth. Less or unattractive people can't and don't associate theirs with the way they look.. Kinda like Dr Phil always asks, "Does the way you look determine who you are"? It really doesn't. But you won't find me going out in public OR even lying around the house without looking what I feel to be my best.
