well, if you had said you "eat a lot w/ ur bf and gain weight, how can WE fix that?"i would say, hey man i got the SAME prob, and so does my bf (he gained 20-25 lbs in the 1st 3 months of dating yikkkkesss!!!) heehee. but what's very interesting to me is that you point out that u eat in "healthier amounts" (a positive way of explaining something) when NOT around him, as well as the fact that to fix it you are spending LESS time with him, instead of trying to work on it *together(? is there a reason you dont' feel that he would help or support you to do something positive about it? the thing that i cherish most in my relationship right now, is that i feel that i can do, share, and talk about Anything w/ him... and he is open, caring and WANTS to hear what i have to say!! we talk about weight quite often, and both realize that we have to do something (soon) about eating less/healthier and exercising more. but i feel that in order to do it for myself (and him), i have to encourage us to do it together.. make lifestyle changes (ie ordering healthier meals, cooking at home more, exercising together, etc). just nagging him or trying to encourage him to do it on his own i feel doesn't really work.. why is it that u feel the need to do it alone?? i think if ur bf was very helpful, *supportive*, and overall made u feel that "no matter what you look GREAT but if u want to lose some weight, well, i'll help to encourage you", then you wouldn't have to spend less time w/ him..cuz working together your goals would be the same.
weight is a huuge issue for women especially, i totally understand. and sometimes it bothers me that my bf is not fit.. or at least fitter (dude his beer belly is kinda big! hahha)...but i would never want him to blame me for his weight gain and choose to spend LESS time with me.. =T spending time with eachother shouldn't be a *direct* result of action or inaction... because u can spend time together and choose or try to do more positive things regarding weight loss. trust me it's much easier to do it together than alone.

Of course! We eat and gain weight for various reaons, one of which eating is a social thing. When you are around friends, you usually eat, it's an activity. I love to eat and eat when I'm not hungry with friends. I've learned that if you excercise a lot or join a sports team, you don't have to worry about gaining weight. If you cannot avoid eating with your friends without gaining extra poundage, trying excersizing at least 30 minutes a day, 5-6 times a week. I jog with my friends and my brother 3 times a week, lift weights with my dad once a week and I do karate with my friends twice a week. Convince your friends to excercise with you, find an acitivity that does not involve eating when you see them.

I eat more around the people that I have know for awhile like family and friends. If I am eating in front of coworkers or if there is a girl I am trying to impress, then I will eat less. I guess it's because I don't want certain people to see the "inner slob/glutton.

Yes I think it's because I just tend to eat what everyone eats around me. My boyfriend eats healthy and doesn't eat very often so that's normally how I eat. But all my friends eat SOOO much junk food and late at night too. Even when I try to eat a salad or soemthing around them I get chastised for it because they say I'm already thin-but of course I eat that way to STAY thin.

some people get nervous to eat when they are around their friends because they are probably afraid that they will judge them. Dont worry about it. If you are hungry, eat.. If your not hungry, buy a drink.

OMG me too ... I see the "Ex" and there is an instant urge to insert food ... guess it's to keep him from being atttacted to me ... hasn't completly worked yet - guess I'll have to stop exercising to really run him off.
