A friend told me that during a pap smear they cut a piece of skin from inside your vagina. Is it true, that would hurt right?

Cutting a piece of you is called Biopsy not paps, a paps consists of opening your cervix and getting a sample of it with a Qtip, that's it, it does not hurt at all, if you happened to show someca ncer cells or other things, then they cut a little piece to examine it and that is a little bit discomforting and it is called a Biopsy but a paps does not hurt at all, you just feel alittle bit of pressure. We do not have skin inside our vaginas, it is called flesh, our vaginas are not covered by skin as the outside of our bodies is so your friend has all the wrong information.

No, they take a giant q-tip and rub it against the walls inside your vagina. It does not hurt. The test you are taking about is what is done when your pap smear comes back positive. And I have had that test done. They tell you to take a couple of Advil before you show up and is a little uncomfortable.

During a normal pap, they don't cut a peice of skin off, they use a swab to collect the culture. On the other hand, after my daughter was born, I had a pap smear done where they had cut off a small peice of my cervix to send off for tests to make sure I didn't have cervical cancer. Even then, you only feel a slight pinch sensation, but it doesn't hurt.

No, that's completely untrue. During a pap the doctor inserts an instrument inside you that opens your cervix. Then he uses a cotton swap to get a sample from you. It's uncomfortable, but it doesn't hurt.

Your friends give you a lot of bad info.

They use a swab to collect cells from the utetine wall. There are no sizzors in this test, it does hurt slightly but nothing like it will later on in life when chidren are in the future. Get used to it honey it is a part of being a woman, also have a HPV test.( Human Paplloma virus). They don't normally ck for this but they need to at each visit.

That's not true. They insert a device called a speculum in there to open your vagina wider so they can see what they're doing. Then they stick a wooden stick up there (somewhat like a tounge depressor) and scrape some cervical fluid off so they can get a sample of it. They also may use a q-tip. They do not cut anything off.

Not true. The doctor just inserts a speculum into the vagina to make it easy to see, then does a quick swab. There is some minor discomfort when the speculum is in, but just relax, and you'll be fine. It also helps if you use the bathroom beforehand.

they many times do a pap smear early on your being pregnant to locate std's or infections. you do no longer want to have a pap smear in a while on your being pregnant. it is no longer risk-free at that component yet early on your preganancy is particularly user-friendly. The checklist knew you have been pregnant so she does no longer have carried out something that could harm your infant. I even had to hava biopsy carried out early in my being pregnant and that i'm 28 weeks and each little thing is great. no could desire to rigidity. sturdy success and congrats!

Yuck! No they don't cut skin from you. They just swab your skin with a stick. The actually swabbing doesn't hurt they just barely touch you. The part that hurts is having the speculum in (a metal thing that opens you up so they can see inside).

thats sooo not true. its pretty much a big q-tip that they rub on your cervex. then there is the little wooden tongue depresser looking think that they scrape some cells off with. it doesnt hurt. if you're really nervous or tense it might feel a little funny, but its more of just an embaresment. the only part i hate it the clamp thingy they use to hold you open, i wish they would learn to warm that up first, its sooo cold sometimes.
