Okay, I have always worn make up since i was about 13 yrs. old (and now im 19) I were foundation, face powder, eyeshadow, eyeliner,Mascara,Lipliner, lipgloss/lipstick,eyebrow pencil........I mean the whole works. And when i was about 15 i started getting acne and now i dont have it anymore but i have alot of scars and you cant see them when im wearing makeup but lately I havn't had time to even put any on, with work and my son and just everything it seems like i only put makeup on about 2-3 times a week, and my face feels naked. But someone told me that i should let me face breathe, and soon enough my face will look better without makeup, Is that true? I just wish i had that beautiful natural look so i didn't have to wear any makeup. But i have been wearing makeup so long that I feel like i don't look good without it. Can someone give me some good advice???????????

Sure, you can wear makeup! A good one will help, not hurt your skin. With all the bad stuff in the air it can actually be a layer of protection! First, though, you need to take care of your skin. Good skin means you can use makeup(less of it) to enhance your looks, not hide. Find out what kind of skin you have. If you wash with mild cleanser in the morning, and use nothing else, when does your skin start getting oily? In an hour? In 2 hours? Much later in the day? Where is the oil?In your T-zone? Allover? Just a little around your nose? If you have a lot of oil in a short period, then you are oily. A medium amount in the T-zone in a medium peiod, you are probably combination. A very little in the afternoon means you're normal. No oil, or very little at the end of the day, means you are dry. It's important to address your skin's needs so you don't "stress" it. You don't want it to over-produce oil or become flaky and splotchy because you've stripped it. Cleanse properly a.m. &p.m.
Take your makeup off before sleeping. Oil control if you need it & moisturize (even oily skin needs moisture-use oil-free) and exfoliate. Use a good quality scrub (remember- microspheres- round things can't scratch your skin) and keep your face out of the sun. Use at least an spf15 for everyday- more if you'll be outside. No sun on your face- self-tanner only! And don't forget to drink your water! Lots of it! Colas and coffee are so bad for you and your skin- even diet and caffeine free! You'll find your skin looks better and you won't need to hide it. Now that you have a good routine and are using it everyday, get yourself a foundation that compliments your skin. Get a really good color that matches your neck. You can cheat color a little with a bronzer applied where the sun hits, but your base should be an exact match. Make sure it's the proper undertone. From there it sounds as though you know what to do- I suggest you keep your makeup down to 10 minutes. The eyes are usually the stars, so find the looks you like best and save the elaborate makeup sessions for special occasions. I find if you take much longer than that on your own face you're playing with it. Which is ok, of course, but you sound like you've got better things to do. If you try a more "natural" look stay away from too much brown- I don't care what they say, it will make you look tired and you're probably tired enough! Give rosier colors, well blended, a shot- pretty pinks can really lift your mood, and who doesn't want that?

You should try the bare essentials and try weekly going with something less as far as less eyeshadow or less lipstick You will have to go down on the makeup and eventually you will be ok with the bare essentials powder and lipgloss. Wearing that much makeup is a pain everyday. Good luck

girl.. there are too many girls out there that feels the same way as u do! dont worrie, its normal because hey.. we're girls right? well, as for your situation, u should stop for awhile to let ur skin breathe because to tell u the truth, foundation is VERY bad for ur face especially u puts it on everyday! try concealer instead because it doesnt go ALL over ur face! use an translent powder instead because they're more mild and gentle. i bet u are a very beautiful girl but u just feel awkward without ur make up because u've been living with make up for so long but as soon as u get used to light make up, u'll notice how natural beauty works!

i have acne too, but since im a guy, i dont wear makeup. I advise you to get Acnefree and use the renewing toner and repairing lotion, but as long as you leave your skin alone, sometimes the acne scars will go away. mine got better over time and many of my scars went away. i agree with your friend, let your face breath a little. dont put on so much makeup.

If you are feeling self-conscious,try just using it only when you go out, but change your foundation to a pressed powder for light coverage. Use a good cleanser and VERY light moisturizer and keep the makeup off at home

It's alright to wear makeup still, just wash it off before you go to bed because your face has to breathe at night. Also, don't put it on unless you're going somewhere or seeing someone. You don't have to look good in the privacy of your own home!

There are foundations that look natural. Have you heard of mineral foundations? These look great and make your skin flawless. I do not know how you look, but I believe a little bit of makeup helps all of us. Try Everyday Minerals at everydayminerals.com. The EM company sends samples for free. These minerals look natural and give you a flawless skin. Bare skin is fine but these minerals make it look better and protected.

You can still wear make up every day. Just remove it as soon as you get home and make sure you wash your face with a cleanser twice a day and moisturize with a light moisturizer. You might want to look into micro-dermabrasion. It removes those dead skin cells and acne scars.

The person that told you to let your face breath was right. That happened to my mom. She would always wear makeup. Then she stoped.

it's okay not to wear make-up in order to let your skin breathe... always bring with you compact powder to pamper your face from time to time... to hide blemishes, bring concealer... to solve any acne problems, buy a product that contains benzoil peroxide... it's very effective. it contains chemical that will produce oxygen and let your face breathe in order not to produce much oils/fats and prevent acnes...
