The mirror is clear glass, but it is backed by a material that they call "silver" Old mirrors that have black spots where they no longer reflect can be re-silvered.
If you are painting a picture of a mirror, you'll use greys, whites, blues, and try to reflect what could be the colour of the opposite scenery.
