The death of Terry Kath certainly marked the beginning of the end for Chicago...the ending just hasn't been written yet.
Chicago, without question, was my favorite band of the 70's. That's a pretty bold statement, considering the great music that was laid on the table in that decade. I had the pleasure of seeing them in concert 4 times, the first 3 with Kath, and the last with that so-called replacement Donnie Dacus. The difference was incredible, and TRULY sad! Gone was the gravelly voice that fronted many of their hits, and the lead guitar that Jimi Hendrix once said was HIS favorite.
The band did a "fair" job in working with the loss...which contributed to a turn in their music. Their style changed to more a commercial approach, which generated to the "elevator music" that their fans had to now endure. In my mind, the departure of Peter Cetera pretty much closed the "rock" chapter of their story. What started then, and lasts until this very day, is a band that I won't even turn on Leno to watch.

What the hell are you talking about lately? Chicago got spent creatively sometime in the 80's, depending on whether or not you like Peter Cetera....where have you been?
