Don't want to make you angry, but that's like asking is Ford better than Chevy. You can find people on both sides who think their choice is best. No antivirus or antispyware is 100% effective. They all miss something. A lot of people think just because something is free must mean it's no good. I've been using Panda for over a year. I also have CA eTrust, Norton, McAfee, AVG, and a couple of others on my computer (but I only have one live - real time - scan running.) Panda occasionally catches things the others have missed. And vice versa.
My advise: find something you like. Something that's easy to use, has a good support team with 24/7 access. But use something. Keep it updated. And did I mention to use it? Keep a few other companies on hand as back up. Again, you can install as many security products on your computer as you want, but make sure you run only ONE live scan at a time. If you run more than one, the two different products will see each other as a threat, try to eliminate each other, and your computer will crash.
Here's a link to Panda. Check it out. I believe PCWorld magazine did a comparison of different security products not to long ago. You can probably view that online as well.
