Why are "ugly" or "fat" people so self-confident, while beautiful/attractive people are very insecure????

never noticed it, being fat and ugly myself. i can only tell you that most ugly and/or fat people put up a good front, just so people dont have yet another reason to make fun of them. everyone is insecure

People's size doesn't matter. It is what's inside that counts. Insecurity can be in any person. A skinny girl may be insecure because she feels her boyfriend is a dog. And the truth is he is a cheater so it is justified. Same goes for a fat girl. Some people hate crowds. Some people fear the public in general. Some ugly or fat people put on a front to appear self confident. Some skinny people put on a front to appear self confident. But inside we're sometimes equal.

I have noticed it. but I think alot of times the "beautiful and Attractive" are not insecure they want attention. "ugly or fat" have do deal with what they are so it can be seen as being confident.

They know what they look like on the outside, so they don't have to waste time, self-esteem, or confidence on skin-deep beauty.

They have great personalities and, other folks see their inner beauty and don't even notice any "lack" of outer beauty.

For the record, I'm ugly AND I lack self confidence. But the ugly is from years of scars....the ugly doesn't drag me down half as much as the lack of confidence.

In other words, outward beauty has no bearing on one's confidence....feelings of being competent and having self-worth far outweigh fleeting beauty.

The person who has great riches is always afraid of losing it.

An attractive person knows that one day she will be fat and ugly just like everyone else, so she is afraid of falling from her great heights of popularity down to the level of everyone else.

Besides, if a person is very pretty, everyone constantly tells her about it, so she is always thinking about her looks (We all keep inadvertently reminding her about her pleasant appearance so that she cannot forget.). After a lifetime of being known as the "pretty girl", it becomes part of her identity -- not just how she looks. She is afraid of looking bad because she would be losing part of the person whom she perceives herself to be.

Ugly people get used to how they look, and the fact that people do not like it, and they soon become immune to it and get on with their lives. Pretty people never had to compete for attention using their personality, so they don't know how. They are terrified of looking ugly one day, because they never had to develop the mental coping mechanism that the rest of us take for granted (Kind of like a person who has never been exposed to germs will not have a functional immune system -- people who have few problems in childhood don't know how to cope with difficulties as an adult).

Physically unattractive people have learned that self-confidence, humor, and a positive outlook is sexy by itself. Looks come and go with age, and you cannot really control how you look -- hence the self doubt of the pretty people (looks will fade, unfortunately). Your personality is the one thing that you CAN control, and believe it or not, a fun, confident personality attracts people just as much as a good complexion. Normal people found this fact out by trial and error, so we are confident that we can maintain an attractive personality.

Because ugly/fat people realize that's not their strength, and deal with it. They don't need to rely on looks and, guess what, people still like them, they still fall in love, and they're still happy.

Beautiful people have a fading quality as their strong point, beauty. A smart person is smart forever, (well baring illness and such) while a beatiful person has maybe 30 years or so of 'quality beauty time'... at tops.

They've got to constantly worry about LOSING all they've got; their looks.

its because you dont have to be beautiful or attractive to get something you want...and when some like that see's a fat or ugly person get something like a guy they wanted it makes them feel just plain stupid...and gets them thinking what did i do wrong...

Because we are scared of getting fat. So therefore, we see ourselves as already being fat so we will work our hardest to keep it off. But thinking that we are fat makes us less confident.

cause we (ugly) know that people will judge us for our outsides so we stop giving a f*ck and decide that we are the sh*t no matter who thinks what. we had to get to where we're at using our brains and not body!
